Thanks for the spaces disabling tip. Mine was frying my thigh like KFC! I'm not overly litigious, however, I think enough of us could pose a threat, or, at least enough pressure to get the issue resolved. Who has access to an online petition mechanism? It's like the good ol days, when we "true believers" had to tolerate some shortcomings. The Intel thing seems to be doing exactly what we feared: screwing up a good thing.

Somebody should put their MacBook Pro 1st generation computer on their lap and burn the hell out of it. Then sue Apple for building such a defective motherboard by adding too much defective bonding compound around the CPU and heatsink! They won't own up to it. Maybe bringing a MacDonald's spill-burning-coffee-on-your-lap-type suit would bring relief from the stupid workarounds, grilled MacBooks, and time-consumed writing about this. Maybe you'll get a voucher for a new MacBook Pro for your troubles (a $1,000 instead of the $100 iPhone rebate?!)? I'm a Mac user, but this shouldn't be happening to my friends and colleagues (i.e. the stonewalling).

I have been trying to figure out why the fan on my Macbook Black core 2 duo with 2 gig ram was running constantly after i installed Leopard. Christ it was running really hot, even when doing simple non taxing things like surfing.

Since reading this article i have disabled Spaces and things have gone back to normal. Interestingly, although spaces was enabled i had not been using it, so what gives with spaces ???
