Quick Shut Down

August 23rd, 2006 by steveblue
Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?

Do you get annoyed by that pesky window that appears every time you want to shut down or restart?

Do not actually do this next step unless you want to shut down your computer.

Quick Shut Down (Option+Click)

Just Click Apple and Option+Click Shut Down in the drop down menu.

This also works for Restart and Log Out in the Apple menu.

What did you learn in this post?
Or did it leave you with further questions?

That works with ctrl-key as well, BUT (I never remember to do it, so) how can I stop the “pesky window” from appearing at all?

I’d like to shut down my computer about as quickly as I shut off the lights when I leave. In addition to the pesky aforementioned window, Outlook asks me if I want to delete my junk folder before shut down will continue. My only choices are A) press ‘continue’ and shut down without reviewing my junk folder for important messages, or B) press ‘cancel’ and stop the shut down process. I want to be able to shut down and check my junk mail later.
